Summary: | This report investigates the unique properties of shape memory polymers (SMPs), with a focus
on polystyrene-based Shrinky Dinks. It looks into how these materials behave when bonded to
various substrates using adhesives and heated to create 3D shapes from initially flat, 2D
structures. Initially, this study aimed to develop a functional product using these properties.
However, challenges during experimentation led to a shift in focus. This report now emphasizes
the results of these tests, particularly the materials’ interactions and responses to heat. The
insights offer a deeper understanding of shape memory effects in composite structures and
underscore considerations for future SMP applications.
