UWB indoor positioning with UCA receiver

A uniform circular array (UCA) structure with four-element antennas is proposed to perform Angle-Of-Arrival (AOA) evaluation at the receiver in IR-UWB indoor positioning system. description A uniform circular array (UCA) structure with four-element antennas is proposed to perform Angle-Of-Arrival (AOA) evaluation at the receiver in IR-UWB indoor positioning system. RSS ranging and AOA/TDOA finding based on UCA have been studied in this project. Path loss model is adopted in range estimation of the transmitter. UCA structure is verified to be useful to estimate AOA by simulation and measurement. The performances of several algorithms have been compared in TDOA estimation based on UCA receiver. A novel algorithm named Common-Rhythm detection is proposed to estimate TDOA. A pre-calibration procedure before measurement is implemented to evaluate the system delay. The major novelty of this thesis is the AOA estimation model based on UCA structure. The performances of AOA estimation algorithms have been studied.
