description | Reactions involved in the formation of polymers are one of the most important examples of complex chemical reactions. The control of polymerization reaction is characterized by the difficulty of the specification of the control objectives and the complexity of the process dynamics involved. The control technique applicable to the polymerization industry requires not only knowledge of the mathematical models but also experience of the operators. The polymerization reactor control system normally consists of conventional single loop controllers. But due to the physical characteristics of the polymerization process, especially the increase of temperature due to exothermic reaction, the efficiency of the controllers has been found to be limited. |
