Summary: | For the past two decades, the amount invested in Information Technology (IT) has been escalating. However, existing literature has provided little evidence of a strong relationship between IT investments and organizational performance. In fact, the findings of most empirical studies to-date appear contradictory. Many of these studies had assumed a simple and direct link between IT investments and performance indicators and were hence unable to explain how and why IT creates value to the organization. Basically, most researchers have not attempted to "open the black box" that exists between the two constructs of IT investments and organizational performance. |
