Being greatly dependent on the construction industry, the fortunes of the concrete industry were in tandem with the construction industry and experienced tremendous growth over the last five years since 1988 during the construction boom after recovered from the shakeout in the mid 1980s. With the potential decline of construction activities over the next few years, the mature concrete industry is now facing a multitude of problems and is threaten with another shakeout which some of the concrete producing firms may be wiped out within the next few years.
