description This study arose from the current interest of our government to encourage local businesses to invest overseas. With this drive to encourage overseas business ventures, project analysis and appraisal have gained importance. The motivation of our study resulted from preliminary contacts with some local businessmen who indicated that they have reservations on their part to venture abroad. These perceptual differences between the theories postulated by academics and practitioners with regards to approaches on project analysis and appraisal is also looked into in this paper.
