Summary:This study examines the World Wide Web (WWW)presence of local tertiary institutions against design tips chosen from various printed and Net sources. A checklist of design/ evaluation criteria for homepages of local academic institutions that focused on the three basic broad categories of visual presentation, content and navigability was compiled. This checklist was used as a guide to evaluate the homepages/ Web sites of seven local tertiary institutions.
