Description
Summary:In order to achieve a better understanding of the factors influencing the performance of bulk heterojunction based polymer organic solar cells, simulation is necessary for the device as it can predict the results such as short-circuit current, open-circuit voltage without man-made factor effect compared to experiment result. For this project, we focus on the thickness effect of different layers on the performance of poly(3- hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and 1-(3-methoxycarbonyl)-propyl-1-phenyl-(6,6)C61 (PCBM) based organic solar cell. The modeling system will be generated by MATLAB coding and the result will be verified by experimental results. In this general model of particular organic solar cell, different solar device has the different energy loss mechanisms from sunlight to electricity, so the model neglects those specific loss effect that cause our result has a small offset from the actual result. We can apply it to other complex or multi-layer photovoltaic device which is a good reference for future investigation.
