日治时期的“民族想象” :以《送报夫》和《植有木瓜树的小镇》为中心 = The imagined community under Japanese rule : the newspaper boy and a small town with papaya trees

Often, past research had used the February 28th Incident and the Taiwan Strait Crisis as basis for the argument. However, it is rare to find research which approached the issue of nationalism from the perspective of literary works. With reference to The Newspaper Boy ( Song Bao Fu) and A Small Town with Papaya Trees ( Zhi You Mu Gua De Xiao Zhen), this paper attempts to find out if a Taiwan nation had already emerged during the Japanese colonial period and whether the conditions were ripe for the formation of a Taiwan nation.
