Information technology can enhance the learning process for many students including tertiary students. Many schools in Singapore have implemented notebook or tablet personal computers for their students. However, they have not evaluated the acceptance of the mobile technology for learning by their student populations. The main aim of this study was to evaluate students' acceptance of mobile computing devices such as a personal digital assistant (PDA) using the "Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT)". It was recently proposed by leading researchers in the technology acceptance field, as a means to forecast, explain and improve usage pattern. This study determined how a PDA helps these students to perform in classes, ease of use, whether they were influenced by peers to use this technology and the availability of mobile learning resources for them to use. It also examined the sentiments of these students on the use of PDA. What would be the key mitigating factors for them to adopt the PDA technology as well as reasons that would ease their knowledge quest?
