description | This project aims at enhancing the OLED efficiency by the introduction of a new hole injection buffer layer (also referred as anode buffer layer) that significantly reduces losses due to imbalances in the hole and electron partial currents. With standard devices, hole current can far exceed electron current resulting in significant energy wastage since the excess holes cannot combine with electrons within the emissive layer to generate light, which is one of the most important factors that limit the efficiency in OLEDs. The new hole injection buffer layer introduces a barrier to hole injection to reduce the number of excess holes and thus significantly increase the device efficiency. |
