Li Kwok Hung School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Electronic circuits 72 p. In this dissertation, we analyze the bit error rate (BER) performance of asynchronous multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems with different families of spreading codes like Walsh, Gold, orthogonal Gold, Zadoff-Chu, Kasami and complementary Golay sequences under an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel model. The BER expressions are derived and the analytical expressions are verified using both Monte Carlo integration and moment generating function (MGF) methods. Numerical results show that the Zadoff-Chu sequences perform better than other spreading codes when the number of users is less than or equal to 6, whereas when the number of users is greater than 6, orthogonal Gold sequences show the best performance. It is also seen that Walsh sequences are the least sensitive to the changes in the number of users, and they outperform other sequences under low SNR.
