Spread-spectrum (SS) is a modulation technique that can be used to mitigate the deleterious effects of intentional or unintentional interference and multi-path reception. Fast frequency-hopped (FFH) SS communication system is one of the very important techniques commonly used for SS communication systems. FFH/SS communication systems have attracted considerable interests in both military and commercial applications over the past few decades. The performance of an FFH/SS system may be vulnerable to intentional or unintentional interference, such as multitone jamming (MTJ) and multiple-access interference (MAI). In addition, the fading effect is also an important facet to be considered. In this dissertation, some problems regarding FFH/SS systems with diversity-combining methods against MTJ, MAI, fading effect and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) are addressed.
