description The shortage of seafarers has been an issue repeatedly raised for the past few years. This study specifically aims to derive corrective for attracting and retaining the seafarers. The reader will initially be given a brief update on the current seafaring labor market based on BIMCO/ISF 2005 report. A review of literatures would reveal the current situation as well the increasing awareness of the shortage but the industry‘s inability to develop on practical solutions. Subsequently the author explores marketing strategies such as Employer of Choice to be a possible cure for this shortage and look into other employment brand and marketing strategies in an attempt to improve the situation.
