description Injection effects on sediment transport rate in a closed conduit are experimentally investigated. Contrary to previous studies on this topic, the quick condition was applied for all experiments conducted. The results indicate that at lower injection velocity the transport of material is marginally increased. However at higher injection velocities, the sediment transport rate increases dramatically. Large scouring results in bulk bed load transport far in excess of that witnessed during non-failure conditions. Experimental results from other studies are used to compare with those obtained and inference drawn from the present study. In general, when quick condition occurs due to higher injection, the sediment transport rate will increase with an increase in injection velocity. The concepts thus developed are useful for a better understanding of the sediment transport mechanics and in the design of stable alluvial channels affected by seepage.
