description This project is a part of “Speech, Touch and Acoustic Tangible Interfaces for Next-generation Applications” or STATINA project which aims to turn everyday’s object into human touch interface. In this project, its focus is on the study of mathematical modeling of touch interface. The modeling is divided into three parts, plate vibration, sensor, and TDOA source localization by Matlab. The first part is done by using classical plate vibration equation to express the both static and dynamic solution in the case of clamped boundary. The second part is observed the order measurement system of accelerometer. The last part of source localization is done based on the principle of time difference of arrivals (TDOA). Moreover, the experimental study is also another part of this project in order to verify the mathematical model and to observe the result from actual scenario. Experiments are carried out by tapping on the glass window at laboratory in office S2-B3b-10 and recording the signals by accelerometer, Murata shock sensor adhesively pasted to the plate at the different positions. The impact point is predicted by the proposed method and compared with the actual location. The result of predicted source localization is presented using MATLAB. Some errors affect on the result due to external environment disturbances such as noises, boundary conditions and sensitivity of the sensors.
