Video streaming over wireless local area network : simulation study

This report presents the results of simulating video streaming over the different wireless standards (IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g).The results have shown video streaming capacity over the different standards, with 802.11a performing the best with 8 simultaneous video streaming reliably. The acce...

description This report presents the results of simulating video streaming over the different wireless standards (IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g).The results have shown video streaming capacity over the different standards, with 802.11a performing the best with 8 simultaneous video streaming reliably. The access point bottleneck effect was also evidenced as the weak point in the performance of wireless video streaming. Finally, the QoS capabilities of the 802.11e was simulated and showed the positive impact the service differentiation has on video streaming.
