Summary:Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-T) standard is one of the many standards used worldwide for the broadcasting of digital television. It is used in Singapore to broadcast free-to-air channels such as digital 5, 8 and channel news Asia (CNA), as well as the channels of subscription TV. Some of the advantages of DVB over analog TV are reduced bandwidth due to MPEG compression, and the ability to broadcast higher resolution pictures. This project is a continuation of previous projects which have implemented an embedded system that can tune, receive and stream live DVB-T channels using NXP Semiconductor’s Nexperia Processor PNX1500 (TriMedia platform). This setup consists of a tuning device, demultiplexer, decoder and renderer. This project involves the creation of an application program that can tune a USB DVB-T receiver to receive transport streams in an attempt to obtain live streaming by integrating the application with the demultiplexer, decoder and renderer of the embedded system described above.
