description NTU is home to a large number of foreign undergraduates who come from Asia, North America and Europe. Among these foreign undergraduates, the Chinese face a significantly greater amount of prejudice from the local undergraduates, resulting in them being segregated from the latter on campus. This research will attempt to explain the formation of such prejudice and how structures in NTU produce and reinforce segregation between the local and the Chinese undergraduates. Interviews with both groups would provide detailed accounts of their rhythms of life, and the rules and norms that they adhere to. It would shed light on their perception towards each other and dynamics that they share. Pursuant to that, it also addresses the effectiveness of the university’s efforts in integrating foreign students into the NTU community.
