description This project involves the testing and characterization of 16 inhouse formulated silicone resins that were doped with thermal conductive fillers of various concentrations. The fillers used were graphite, boron nitride and compound A. The doped silicone resins interfaced with the spliced points in highpower fiber laser to remove heat generated at the spliced points, provide mechanical strength and protect the spliced points. The principle objective of this project is to identify the optimum performing silicone resin. The performances were determined from the workability, light absorptivity, thermal conductivity, thermal stability and reliability of the silicone resin. The characterization tests that were carried out were viscosity test, spectrophotometry test, thermal conductivity test, thermal stability test and the testing of the silicone resins on actual highpower fiber laser setup.
