description | Many third-party applications providing web-based services are still reliant on a having a direct Internet connection for the applications to work. The introduction of Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) provides an alternative to allow applications to continue working despite experiencing intermittent network connectivity or failures. In this project, the implementation of the web-based social-networking service Twitter over DTN was discussed. The authorization protocol of Twitter was also examined and implemented over DTN. In designing the application, factors such as concurrent requests from multiple clients, custom message format and reduction of network traffic were considered. Implementation was done by utilizing several open source libraries on the Linux platform and exposed through a simple Graphical User Interface. The result was a working Twitter application which can communicate successfully over an inconsistent network. |
