| description | From one of the oldest beliefs systems in the world, Hinduism, came the root development of a visual culture. Its depiction of gods and goddesses, their divine powers and cosmic phenomena came in the form of mythologies that have prevailed over the centuries. This project of the stories of the gods, singles out the element of water as a recurring motif in Hindu myths, and peels off its symbolic layer to unveil spiritual truths.
Water was seen as divine by being the amniotic fluid which creates life, the element of fertility that sustains life, also the element of destruction in its raging state, but also the comforting body that purifies. Ultimately, human kind understands the world through simple everyday experiences that are universal. By seeing the world as divine, humans have given rise to world religions and cultures that are the foundation of our tremendous history. |
