description This qualitative study of twenty in-depth interviews aims to describe and analyze the experience and views of the egalitarian ideal of the same sex relationship among Singaporean Chinese lesbians who have cohabited with their partners for more than a year. The assumption of the butch femme model as an echo of the homosexual couple dominated the public and individuals consciousness. However, egalitarian relationships are regarded as the dominant ethos of lesbians, gays and bisexuals. In this study, it will explore the contradicting ideas between these two perspectives and other factors that affected them in striving towards an egalitarian relationship.
