Compression characteristics of unsaturated residual soils by increment load test

Description
Summary:Residual soils occupy about two-thirds of Singapore’s geology. They are the product of in-situ physical and chemical weathering of bedrock in Singapore’s tropical climatic condition. Residual soils are known to have high stiffness and are usually unsaturated. However, known engineering properties of Singapore’s residual soils are scarce. As more constructions take place on residual soils, there is a need to understand the settlement characteristics of unsaturated residual soils.
