description Expansive clays can cause severe damages to infrastructures and researchers are exploring ways to predict their swelling behaviour. In the context of studying the swelling behaviour of expansive clay, percentage of bentonite and initial dry density were chosen to study on their effects on the swelling pressure and free swell. While studying these two factors, all other factors such as water content and diameter of the sample remained constant. Three samples were prepared for each of the factors. Free swell tests and swell-consolidation tests would be conducted for the study.
