description The main focus of this project was to fabricate stand alone micro imaging lens using compression molding. The fabricated lens can be used for biomedical application by attaching it to fiber optics for imaging purpose. The compression molding process was designed to find the optimized sets of parameters for the fabrication of micro imaging lens. After sets of micro lenses were produced, the micro lenses will undergo geometrical and optical characterization to determine the characteristics of the lens and the best parameters in molding a micro imaging lens. The suitability of the micro lenses for biomedical application can also be determined through these characterizations. The geometrical analysis includes confocal imaging and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) which determined the surface finish of the fabricated lens. Optical characterization includes focal length and focal spot size characterization, florescence sample imaging ability and measurement of resolution which determined the suitability if the lenses in biomedical application.
