Description
Summary:Fossil fuels have been declining at a rapid rate and the use of fossil fuels has also been the cause for environmental hazards. Thus, there is a growing concern globally on the need to look for renewable energy. Solar energy has been identified as one of main sources of renewable energy in the future. Singapore‟s geographical location, with an average annual solar irradiation of 1,150 kWh/kWp/year and about 50% more solar radiation than temperate countries, makes solar photovoltaic (PV) technology a promising option as a source of renewable energy. Furthermore, Singapore‟s urban landscape provides opportunities to develop capabilities in system integration and building integrated PVs that can be exported to the region. As such, the Singapore government has already made their official intentions clear and identified the photovoltaic industry as an emerging industry.
