description Video now becomes part of life of human beings. Everyday there are plenty of gigabytes videos produced all around the world. Also, more and more videos stored on computer or online are being watched by people around the world. Many techniques have been proposed and adopted to provide better quality video using refined encoding and decoding methods. There are now many video coding standards to improve the coding efficiency of video, like MPEG series and H.261, H.262 and H.264. These standards can fulfill different video requirements such as store and play on desktop, mobile devices or play online or real-time conference or TV live. More and more videos have high resolution now technology innovation, these high definition videos have high requirements to the encoders and decoders to make them relatively small size and play back smoothly without losing too much quality. However, currently many codecs cannot do these; people have thought many ways to improve the coding speed of high resolution videos. Some of them are hardware acceleration and multithreading.
