description Web-based technology has a dramatic impact on learning and teaching. This project introduces the importance and effectiveness of the virtual learning environment for teachers, parents and students in the context of basic information technology skills training. Grounded in the virtual learning environment, this project develops a maths question generator for O-level students. Specifically, the manipulation of matrices is focused on this project, based on matrix properties. Netbeans platform is used to develop the mentioned matrix system using Java. JFrame is used in developing the system and converted to JApplet to support both standalone and web version. Through this project, Netbeans and Java language are studied. Moreover noticing the fact that manual calculation and programming language is different while solving the resultant operation. Problem solving techniques were improved with configuration of Netbeans, and also gained hand-on experiences in writing Java programs. Finally, recommendations were made to improve the graphical user display of the system.
