Description
Summary:Social networking sites have been a growing trend around the world and they change the way how people communicate today. With the rapid advancement in technology, integrated program such as Global Positioning System (GPS) is widely used in the mobile phones. However, given the current existing sites, there is no platform where a user can search for other users and friends that are around him/her using his/her current location. The purpose of this project is to develop a mobile application that combine the idea of social and location-based networking site. This application will allow users to have a new social experience through social networking based on their current location, to make new friends and meet up with friends who are nearby. The application is successfully implemented on the Android platform, using MySQL database. Users can communicate with other registered users given their current location. A user acceptance survey is conducted and the results show that 90% of the surveyors expressed their interest in using the application if it is available in the market. Based on the survey results, the users wish to see more features in the application such as flipping of photos while viewing the album. Thus, future works of extra features will be included.
