Description
Summary:Microgrids comprise low-voltage distribution systems with distributed energy resources (DER) such as Wind, Solar and Fuel cell and controllable loads which can operate connected to the grid or islanded in a controlled coordinated way. This concept aims to move from connect and forget philosophy towards an integration of DER. Microgrids provide clear economic and environmental benefits for end-customers, utilities and society. However, their implementation poses great technical challenges, such as a protection of Microgrid. This project aims to design the microgrid network that utilizes the mircosources to operate in grid-connected mode and islanded mode. The proposed system is able to deliver supply to customer without any interruptions. For example any fault occurs in the main grid automatically disconnect from the grid and work in islanded mode.If the fault occurs in microsources side, automatically disconnect from the source and connect to the grid. It is not limited to compensation of harmonic currents, power factor and nonlinear load unbalance, but also can be used for control of active and reactive powers.
