Lee Siang Guan, Stephen School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Manufacturing::Product design 118 p. In product development, it is not uncommon for design tasks to iterate several times before the entire process completes. However, iterations are almost unavoidable since most design process involves tasks which are bound to relate to one another. In fact, iterations are needed primarily because of information exchange among interdependent tasks. A Homogeneous State-Space (HSS) model proposed by Ong is used to facilitate the study of design process. With HSS, the natural response shape of design process can be determined while at the same time, yields a prediction of the project completion based on the number of iterations. Non-Homogeneous State-Space (NHSS) control was presented since HSS is unable to model unexpected external and internal influences. With NHSS, additional resources are employed to bring the overall design process to stability thus meeting the project deadline.
