Despite producing more than 5 million graduates in 2008, China is still struggling with talent shortage as, according to experts, few graduates have the skills needed to help sustain China's booming economic growth, which results in a constant flow of multinational corporations establishing their offices in China with specific skill-set requirements. In more specific terms, with regards to the management of young talent, the expected challenges can be broadly classified into recruitment and retention. Additionally, there are signs of a shortage of talent on a senior level. Hence, the recruitment of senior managers and development of mid-level talents becomes a challenge.
