In Najib's first hundred days of being prime minister, Najib took liberalization of the NEP, which was introduced by his father,Tun Razak. The NEP was an affirmative action program which was in favor Malays. The achievements of the NEP as well as the disputes caused by the NEP are always a hot issue either for politicians or ordinary people. It is meaningful to discuss the outcomes and disputes of the NEP. In addition, the impact of Najib's liberalization on Malays will be examined. Finally, and most importantly, the paper aims to examine why Najib took liberalization of the NEP.
