This thesis presents shape controlled synthesis of iron (Fe) and tungsten (W) oxides nanostructures and their field induced electron emission (FE) properties. The Hot-Plate growth method, also called Heat-Oxide growth method, was adapted to grow randomly aligned a-Fe203 and potassium tungsten bronze (PTB) nanostructures at different temperatures. This Heat-Oxide method provides an alternative route for fabrication of metal oxide nanostructures, with the advantages of mild synthetic conditions and scalability for large-scale production.
