description | This research aims to uncover the motivations for engaging in motorcycle tourism, the values and meanings attached to this form of travel, and how these touristic experiences peculiar to motorcycle tourism are incorporated in the negotiation of the self through processes of (re)construction and (re)affirmation. While tourism scholars have long focused on examining the motivations behind travel, the field of motorcycle tourism has been left relatively untouched. The findings of this research suggests that the participation in motorcycle tourism, the manner in which stories of experience are narrated, and the intersection of the social roles in a participant’s social environment constitute to the construction of an identity that is central to the self. |
