Summary:The Barsam explores into the subject of gender, race and history by paying particularly on the subject of Malay masculinity in Singapore. It is realized as a interactive installation with a visual novel. The Barsam aims to highlight the position of Malay masculinity and how religion, authority and history shapes it and continuously changes it at the same time. This project also aims to alter narrative and folklore by retelling the story of Sang Nila Utama.
