description Ivan Chermayeff stated “To design is to solve human problems by identifying them, examining alternate solutions to them, choosing and executing the best solution.” This project culminates a long interest in the social dynamics within the community, and specifically, the HDB community. This multi-faceted project looks into the many symbolic gestures of neighborly behavior and how community bonding can be achieved with the catalytic quality of a gift. The goal of this project is to explore the territory of neighbors and of giving within the HDB community. There are benefits of having a neighbourhood that experiences the full extent of strength that a community could have, and I explored into these possibilities through this final year project.
