description | Due to the popularity of local search services, such as Google Maps, Yahoo! Locals, and online Yellow pages, and the emergence of the mobile Internet, location-based spatial query has become considerably important. For example, in Google Maps, many (geo-referenced) points of interest objects, e.g., stores, tourist attractions, hotels, entertainment services, public transport, and public services are being associated with descriptive text documents.
The objective of this Project is to extract business objects from the local search service, such as Google map and Street Directory, and integrate the business objects from different sources. When integrating the data from different sources, the corresponding objects that represent the same real world entity are needed to be identified. This problem is known as Entity Resolution. An approach which considers both spatial and non-spatial information is proposed and the experiment results show that the performance is better that those methods based on spatial or name information alone. |
