description | This report covers the Final Year Project “Statistical Downscaling of Climate Data in Singapore”.
With the fast changing climate and evolution of technology, Singapore’s weather had become more unpredictable and intensified. The intensity of rainfall and temperature of the day varies tremendously from the past and had become one of the major concerns of the local authority in recent years.
The extreme intensity of rainfall and temperature are of direct relation with the general public health as well as their property. The hot days will cause more sickness and health problem while high intensity rainfall will cause flooding that may destroy property of others. The predictability of the future intensity of rainfall and temperature will allow preventive measures to be taken timely, thus, prevent any unnecessary problems that may occur.
The project aims to establish statistical model to relate Singapore’s precipitation and temperature to Global Climate Model (GCM) data. With a relationship formed, the future intensity of Singapore’s precipitation and temperature can be predicted. The project will focus on the methodology as well as its results and findings. Detailed project description will also be included in this report. |
