Summary:Road transportation, other than air, sea and inland navigation, is one mode of transportation for freight. Being widely utilised for first and last mile freight, road transportation is as critical a link as any in an intermodal supply chain. Different sets of issues and challenges are inherent in different aspects of road transportation. This report investigates how technology can be effectively employed to the various aspects to allow better performances by Goods Vehicles (GVs) and consequently the whole of the intermodal supply chain.
