description Few research were done on gradual channel experiment. In this experiment, the study of local scour within a gradual open channel expansion is presented to understand and investigate the geometry of scour hole formed under different flowrate due to the phenomenon of scouring. One type of laboratory experiment were run and observed. The experiment was done with one type of sediment bed and the influence of the angle of expansion on the sediment bed. Dimensional analysis and physical reasoning were applied to identify important parameter and to further understand the correlation of the scouring phenomenon and it’s geometry under a given angle of expansion and a given culvert width. There was found to be a slight change in the scouring phenomenon from low flowrate to high flowrate and empirical methods of identifying the change in the phenomenon was proposed.
