Building Construction Authority (BCA) and SPRING have formed several technical committees to examine UK National Annexes of the Eurocodes and most of the design of concrete and steel structures has now been published as Singapore Standards (SS ENs).
Singapore National Annexes will be accepted by BCA from 1 Apr 2012. Preparations such as training courses and workshops have been organised to familiarise with the new Singapore Standards (SS ENs).In this report, various connection such as base plate, bolted and welded connections are being studied. The objective of this report is to differentiate the design philosophy and design methodology of connections using both BS: 5950:2000 and Eurocode 3 extensively. The worked examples are presented in step-by-step using both BS: 5950:2000 and Eurocode 3 and comparisons have been made at the end of each type of the design connections |
