description With the increase in energy cost, people starts pondering methods to monitor and maintain to reduce energy consumption. Good energy usage habits have to be promoted and utilizing energy efficiently will allow savings to electrical bills One of the ways is having a home automation system(HAS) The purpose of the HAS approach can help to provide real-time control and monitoring of individual appliance and find out which appliances consume energy the most. In the recent years, wireless communication technologies for home energy monitoring system have been widely used. Therefore, with the combination of home energy management system using wireless help the installation has become quick and simple. For this project, the author needs to design and development of home energy management system using wireless communication. The goal of this development of home energy management system is to build a home energy information system that can help user to have a better understanding of the future electricity pricing structure and allow better communication and control between consumers and utilities. This report will describe the design and development of home energy management system using Wireless-ZigBee energy monitoring devices and Graphical User Interface (GUI) through the use of LabVIEW software. The management system would allow user to control and monitor the power and energy consumption of the various electrical appliances locally through Wi-Fi, Ethernet or remotely via internet.
