description This study contributes to existing literature on working mothers facing work-family conflict by providing insight into the lived experiences of Singaporean Indian working mothers. It explores how Singaporean Indian working mothers negotiate their traditional gender roles and their professional roles. Through in-depth interviews with 10 Singaporean Indian working mothers, I examine the influence of gender socialization on the internalization of traditional gender roles amongst respondents. Despite its negative implications, I discovered that respondents in general have positive attitudes towards their professional roles and have given equal importance to personal development. In addition, it was revealed that these women are able to better negotiate the demands of their roles due to the support system they have.
