description | This paper aims to explore factors influencing the Muslim women’s hijab sartorial choices in modern Singapore with relevance to religiosity and producer-consumer behavior. Available scholarship has revealed that religiosity, alongside cultural and social influences, plays a big part in decisions made by individuals. Through interviews conducted with local hijabis and observations of local hijab fashion scene on the streets and on online websites, the research presents that hijab fashion works as an intermediary in negotiating religious adherence and demands of modern cosmopolitan life and that it is effectively and efficiently directed to suit purposes of groups and individuals. |
