Summary: | The rising singlehood in Singapore has reached pressing concerns and this escalating singlehood has indeed reaped implications for both the singles and the Singapore society. Whilst the present literatures have delved and focused on the impacts of the singlehood situation, the micro objective of my paper is to examine and assess the reasons behind the single way of life in Singapore. First hand and in depth interviews will enable me to draw out real life stories and understandings from the singles themselves. I will focus on singles, aged 35 years and above and who have never been married before. The in-depth interviews would also help to reveal the future implications and possible solutions to the rising singlehood path, the macro aim of my paper.
