Protestant men simply do not discard their already-acquired tools and habitus upon religious conversion. Instead they begin to make sense of these acquired repertoires, both of masculinity and of Protestantism, to construct for themselves strategies of actions to navigate through social realities. This paper aims to understand Christianity from an emic perspective; that is, it is interested in the believer’s sensibility of the tools-capital made accessible to him. This aim is achieved in two ways – by studying (1) past experiences that form the basis of those sensibilities and (2) the resultant strategies of actions that emerge from those sensibilities. |
