description Sunyi, Pekak, Bisu is an experimental film with documentary and narrative elements. It interplays between a documentation of scenes around Singapore at night and narrative scenes with actors. We are interested in experimenting with the workflow of an unconventional narrative structure. The film uses real interview footage of night-shift workers weaved into our narrative scenes. The decision to feature night-shift workers and the nightscape was a choice made in order to explore a point of view that was less attended to. Shift-work in Singapore is often thought of as low-paying, less ideal and representative of those who live on the edge of the economy. In reality, there are high-paying jobs that also has shifts and also operate at night.
