description Taking the bus in Singapore is a daily ritual for many. Accustomed to a world-class transport system, we expect our rides to be smooth and swift, with minimum fuss and maximum comfort. But of late, Singapore’s public transport system has been bursting at the seams, with breakdowns and delays becoming commonplace. As a result, frontline transport workers like bus drivers have often become unwitting punching bags for irate passengers. This project takes up the perspective of bus drivers in Singapore, to explore the challenges that they face in their line of work. It attempts to find out how bus drivers are recruited and trained to drive on our roads, and the severity of the bus driver shortage.
